Nea Onnim No Sua A, Ohu

Symbol for the quest of knowledge

Nea Onnim means ‘I don’t know’ and is the Adinkra symbol for knowledge and lifelong learning. 'Nea Onnim No Sua A, Ohu', which means "S/he who does not know can know from learning" and is the symbol for 'the quest of knowledge and learning'.

An Adinkra symbol is selected for my guest, which epitomises them. Then we delve into their early lives, careers and beyond; each guest is specially selected for the knowledge and inspiration.

Africa is not a charity case. It is a continent that has infinite abundance, yet narratives still perceive Africa as a place of lack and conversations are either based around the transatlantic slave trade with tv adverts that show the continent as a charity case with poor living conditions.

The Nea Onnim podcast aims to revert the perspective on Africa by celebrating these people, by giving them a platform to share their experiences and what they know about the various African cultures and how this has inspired them and empowered throughout their lives.

There is still so much to know about Africa that is not linked to slavery, so the intention of the Nea Onnim podcast is to evolve the conversation, discuss the abundance and magnify the richness of African culture, business, health, and creativity. The addition of the Adinkra symbols will solidify each episode’s storyline and help with episode recall.

Launching on 17th August, each guest will represent a country in Africa based on the their cultural heritage or on the work that they are currently doing or have done in the past.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming episodes, as much as I have recording them.
